A note from Bill:

In Malachi 3:10, the Lord says, "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it."
Folks, we don't give money to get dollars in return. We give to honor God and to show that He is a priority in our life. When we make God that priority and central in our life - realizing that everything that we have is God's anyway and that we are only stewards or caretakers of it all - God has blessings in store beyond our imaginations. It's exciting when our giving becomes joyful. There is a saying in Randy Acorns' book, The Treasure Principle that states, "God prospers me not to raise my standard of living, but to raise my standard of giving."
Thank you for being part of Getwell Road UMC and for all that you do. I wanted to cast this vision of "testing the tithe" now so we can all begin to pray and position ourselves to see what God can do in and through all of us. Once again - your giving is not to fund the church. It's to honor God. I'll keep you updated as these plans unfold.

Blessings,
Bill Beavers

Story #1: WOW!

Test the tithe was something that once Bro. Bill started preaching on last fall, we both felt convicted about and knew it was something that needed to be more of a priority than we were letting it be. I'll give you our story in a very short synopsis below

We started tithing our full 10% in the month of Jan. and boy were we unexpectedly blessed! First, I hadn't gotten a bonus or a raise in my job in two yrs and DID NOT expect one this year as my company had such a poor year (poorer than the previous year of 2008!)- so that was a big shock! God is good!

This past week it seems we have rec'vd blessing after blessing- first to find out that I got not only a raise at my current job, but also an unexpected bonus from this past year to be paid out this Fri.! Also, this morning in my email inbox were our firms production numbers for the month and my broker and I hit our highest number in production than we have in OVER a year- WOW- Talk about amazing. Being that I generate a commission ck off of our production monthly, that was music to my ears!!!!! I couldn't wait to share this wonderful news with any and everyone but most especially our church family!!!! Just thinking about it makes me smile especially knowing that we will have the opportunity to give even more this month to God and the church. This upcoming month at work is looking very promising as well in regards to our production numbers. God is continually amazing & blessing us!!!!!
